Alfonso Soriano hit 46 HR but only drove in 95. That's a little sad. I'll give him some slack being a leadoff hitter, but not all of his at bats were leading off a game.

Barry Bonds (90 in 2003) and Harmon Killebrew (96 in 1963) both had 45 homers in a season without reaching the 100 mark. They were the record-holders until Soriano broke their marks this season.

Others who have hit 40+ without reaching 100 include:

Aaron 1969 - 44 - 97
Davey Johnson 1973 - 43 - 99
Matt Williams 1994 - 43 - 96
Mickey Mantle 1958 - 42 - 97
Duke Snider 1957 - 40 - 92
Mickey Mantle 1960 - 40 - 94
Hank Aaron 1973 - 40 - 96
Rico Petrocelli 1969 - 40 - 97
Ken Griffey Jr. 1994 - 40 - 90
Darrell Evans 1985 - 40 - 94
