Last Sunday I sharpened a pencil but there wasn't any batteries in the thing so I just manually twisted my pencil around in it. As for the type in your picture, I haven't used one of those since I was in school back in 1983.

I sharpened my kids pencils with one about 2 hours ago. And yes, I do own one.

Two weeks ago. I've got one mounted on one of the 2 x 4 studs down in my basement storeroom. Still works better than anything...
