I'm not technically from Scotland buy my mum's a Scot and I spent my early childhood there. I love going back up to visit my family - I can feel my spirit lifting the further north I go, admiring the beautiful scenery from the train. I'd love to move back up eventually and I'm seriously considering applying to do a PhD at Edinburgh or St. Andrews.
I don't agree with the person who said it's pointless to be proud of something that's an accident of birth. Nationality may not be the most important tie but it's a lot more than just being born in a particular place, if you identify very strongly with the values and attitudes of the place you were born and work to preserve them.

Absolutely! I am Canadian, born in Canada but both sets of Grandparents were from Scotland. I have had the pleasure of visiting your beautiful country only once but when I got off the train in Edinburgh I really felt I had come home! Whenever I hear the pipes I get shivers up my spine (the good kind). So yes, I'm very proud of my Scottish heritage!

No I'm not proud to be Scottish because I'm not Scottish.
I'm Welsh and proud to be Welsh BUT I don't see that as a reason to be aggressive to anyone else from the Uk or spout anti-English stuff.
My BF is English and proud to be English and I think he has the right to do that. Sadly some of the losers round here don't agree (he was threatened when he tried to put a St George cross on his car).
I see no reason why you can't be proud to be whoever you are without anyone else having to get on your case about it.

I'm proud of my Scottish ancestry. I absolutely loved visiting Scotland -- it's a beautiful country. If I decided to emigrate from the US, that's where I'd want to go.

I knew a guy once in America who had history from Scotland. He used to correct me all the time and say he was not of Scottish heritage but it was Scotts heritage. Glad to have had you clear this one up for me.

The only thing that lets us Scots down is that crap singing duo on the Xfactor the sickening McDonald brothers.
