When I add 512mb to my computer it makes my computer beep no stop and it won't come on. My computer already has 512mb and it can go up to 2gb of memory. I tried changing my old memory to the the empty slot and the new memory to the old slot and my computer still beeps. So I put each memory into the old slot individually and no beeping. It only beeps when I but either one in to the open slot.

I hope someone understands what I mean by.

Wrong Memory, Bad Memory, To Large. Take it back and get the correct/new stuff. Beep means it hates it and you should get differant ASAP

The beeps that you hear are audible error codes probably indicating that your memory isn't working together. Does the new memory work on its own? yes, Since it does then the memory chips aren't jiving. Are the new and old memory chips the same type, speed etc? With the price of memory so low nowadays you are best off buying a matched pair and going with that.

Good place to find out about memory is :

http://www.memorygiant.com/

They have a great program when you log in to their website that when you run the program will search their database, pull up information about your motherboard in your PC and tell you what type of memory you can use. How much it will hold and how many slots you have. You don't have to buy from this vendor but I myself have purchased several pieces from this company and have had very good luck and speedy delivery from them each time.

I would give them 5 of 5 starts (And no I do not work for them)

You don't have to buy your memory from them either just to use their tool.

Give them a try and it will fix your issue the first time!!!

There are different codes, different beeps for different problems, but I doubt you need to check it out. Most likely you have two different memory sticks that don't get along well.

Even if it's the same size, same speed rating, same latency rating, memory from different manufacturers doesn't always get along.

Actually, sometimes memory from the same manufacturer doesn't get along, but that's a lot more rare.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
