"Hacker can not route his computer through your computer to perform illegal or unethical activities."
"No hacker will use your IP address to hack into anything other than your PC... To make it look like you're doing something illegal or unethical from your IP or your PC "Hacker" would have to be in your house..."
Excuse me mister 1337 white-hat, but ever heard of a proxy server? It's easily possible to configure a home machine as a proxy, thus using its IP. Also, you may have heard of this thing called a botnet, in which the hacker (botmaster) sends commands to computers to DDOS sites or send spam emails. If you don't know this, you're miles away from being a hacker, of any sort.

No... Don't listen to people above my post... They have no clue what the heck they are talking about...

I'm a "WHITE HAT HACKER"... Please google it or search yahoo to understand what that means...

Hacker can not route his computer through your computer to perform illegal or unethical activities.

IF you have high speed internet (Cable or DSL) your computer becomes a tempting target for hackers and cracker who can more easily break in and steal your banking records, credit card numbers and passwords, etc.

#1 solutions is to get some kind of firewall protection.

No hacker will use your IP address to hack into anything other than your PC... To make it look like you're doing something illegal or unethical from your IP or your PC "Hacker" would have to be in your house...

TRUST ME... Been doing this for a very long time... (GOV)

the way hackers get information like that is a virus called spyware and with software these days it will alert you the second it enters your system
but i should warn you viruses are allover the internet it's like an abandoned house infested with roaches and the roaches are the viruses scary isn't it

but i'll tell you my strategies
viruses can hide in content like macromedia flash player
shockwave content
and sometimes music downloads but i don't think itunes since apples rarely get viruses

but serious threats can be desquised as

games
free game downloads
pornography
and more

but viruses are just creations to make pc repair shops rich and anit virus software publishers too can you believe they make the viruses and infect you and they charge so much just to remove the darn thing
and pc rapair shops will charge you $20 an hour to remove spyware, adware, trojan, and any other virus you can think of but they work slower than molases (they will usually blame it on the computer so this scheme is getting slick, and hair brained)

so thats all i can tell you

It is possible, but unlikely. If you have a good firewall and malware checkers, you should be just fine.

It's very easy to do if you don't take care of your PC.

My other computer is your Microsoft system!
