its not the same noise they usually make it is louder and only does it once and a while. why is it doing it, is it dust?

no not clicking you know that noise harddrives make but quieter well its doin it but only louder it's like a loud ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ noise it's a new computer that my firned built for me and doesn't go slow and i run scan all the time so whats wrong

It could be the fan, or the ball bearings that the cd [that is your hard drive], rolls around on...that sound is normal for an older unit,whereas the round balls rotating round and round is all it is...

as far as dust is concerned you should take the cover off the tower, and carefully use a pc cleaner air spray to clear away the dust so your pc does not get to hot...

it could be loose from a screw which would throw it off balance also to make this noise...

and as others said it is a sign of an old hard drive? do you know what was installed and how old the hard drive was...

It depends how big the HD is the old small ones usualy make noise even now some new HD make noise it just a metter of how loud is it couse they all make noise
I dont think is a big problem I think Defragmenting it would be a good idea
