The last time I looked into this subject about 10 years ago, I found a school in New York that lasted only 1 year and costs about 30,000. At the end of the year you would have a contractor's lisence and be ready to go....If not, you need to find someone that you let you work for several years to learn ALL aspects of building. My last contractor was a certified electrician, plumber, etc....

Depends on what availability you have. If you have a building trades class available in your high school, or through a vocational center supported by the county schools. A good place to start, then after schools out, go to work for a reputable builder and learn the rest. If you carry it out far enough you can take a licensing slass for a builders construction license.

As already been suggested attend a community college vocational course on this subject. here you will learn the math you need as well as the safe way to use carpenters tools. also they will cove the building codes in your location/state.

My advice is to volunteer with some organization such as Habitat for Humanity. It will benefit someone else and you'll be learning also.
