I am doing a research project for my english class. I was just wondering because go back 20 years and we never really knew any gay people. So who was one of the first people to come out and say they are gay or who were the pioneers?

Billy Jean King was my answer. It's a dang good one. I'd definitely use her as an example. It was a very prominent issue at the time. Maybe Elton John.

I thoroughly agree! in basic terms because of the fact some people dislike his music would not advise he's gay or a woman. people % to apply the be conscious "gay" for the incorrect reason. they say it to describe issues they do unlike (consequently, Justin). Justin Bieber isn't a woman, neither is he gay (do you spot him courting any adult men? No. He does like females!). he's sixteen years previous. sixteen! he's dealing with puberty! can no longer every person provide him a ruin? i'm keen on Justin Bieber fan, consequently, anti-Beiber followers might think of i'm "gay" for liking him and his music, mutually as i'm of course no longer. people incredibly have some nerve for determining on on a infant they do no longer even know. I desire they might in basic terms close up and in the event that they do unlike him, they should go away him on my own. regardless of if anti-Biebers think of he's gay/a woman, grotesque, pathetic, etc., they should shop their mouths close and end harrassing him and his followers.

Oh Please,
Paul Lynne(Uncle Arthur from Bewitched), Alan Sues(from Laugh In), and Charles Nelson Riley(various TV and even Children's shows) were all known and way before most of the people that have been named so far. Late 60's and Early 70's TV.

As far as the Died from AIDS thing Rock Hudson was years before Freddie Mercury... As far as "famous" goes Amanda Blake (Miss Kitty from Gunsmoke) died before Freddy and was Heterosexual to boot.

Freddie Mercury maybe? I know he was one of the first well known people to die of AIDS, but I don't know if he actually came out.

And for the record, Melissa Etheridge and kd lang came out well before Ellen.
