First, it seems that many of you are taking the "conservative viewpoint" to heart - I don't think that it means each and every single person who might align themself with the conservative thinking just as one can't make a generalization about each and every single liberal. While I can't be sure of the actual intent of the question, it doesn't sound like it is implying that EVERY SINGLE PERSON who calls themself conservative believes that.
It seems that in the same way conservatives are misunderstood, so are liberals, and socialists, and marxists, and moderates, etc.
Second, Heidi 4, "you want everything to be given to you" is a huge assumption, I would say. Clearly nothing comes for free, ESPECIALLY in the United States, but does that mean that we, as a nation, can't figure out a way to provide at least basic healthcare for all at a reasonable cost (to all), or stop depending on oil so heavily? A few European countries have amazing universal health for hardly the cost that we pay for an uninsured hospital visit. Technology to decrease our dependence on oil has been invented but is being held back from the public...but why?
Thirdly, a few mentioned dedicating your life to service. How unoriginal. Love thy neighbor doesn't mean dedicate your life to servitude but to give respect to all - whether you agree with them or not, everyone is a human being with thoughts and feelings and opinions and different life experiences.
Finally, concerning "deplete and destroy what was divinely given to humans" is actually a very interesting point. This can be pinned to everyone regardless of religious affiliation but it does seem the most contradictory for those who do believe that god created all. It's a slap in the face saying, "You gave it all to us and you gave us brains- ha ha ha- we sure can't take care of it because we all want money which is something that humans invented, not you! Ha- you sure misjudged us." Well put.

You've got the conservative viewpoint all wrong. It's about putting people in charge of their own lives. It's about freedom, but not at the expense of hurting others. That's how America was formed. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people. You can believe in God or not, that's up to you. Conservatives want a good life for all. Everyone can choose to do things that promote personal health. We have an amazing health care system, with the best doctors in the world. We have health insurance from many competing providers, who try to bring the best price and service to their policy holders. We want to protect our environment and sustain our resources so that we can enjoy them for the future. There are ways to promote business and industry and still protect our resources. Conservatives want to conserve these resources for our future.
The message is taking responsibility for yourself, and providing an environment where all people have an equal opportunity to thrive.

Conservative's are misunderstood by you and others, apparently. Their belief in God does not have to follow your train of thought! They are not in charge of depleting and destroying what was given to humans! Each person is in charge of their own morality. Mistakes happen from all sectors of all countries. People are not infallible, none at all. No one can keep everyone safe. The viewpoint mentioned, as all is created by God Almighty, is more that God should be feared, as He is in charge of the health, safety, the environment where we all live. We have free choice, and therein lies the problem. God will not force us to love our neighbor, etc. All the flaws you mention are personal choices, not those of each and every conservative person.

Jesus paid his taxes. Jesus said to 'love they neighbor', the Bible says 'those who don't work don't eat'.
You want everything to be given to you. Who do you think will pay for the education of physicians, medical researchers, invent new life saving drugs?
God gave us all freedom and abilities to rule the earth. He gave us a great example with the man who was robbed and beat and then cared for by the Good Samaritan. How have you personally sacrificed to help another human being or are you just looking for someone else to take care of you?
Think about the irony of the question you asked and comment you made. There is no reasoning in either.
There is absolutely nothing in the Bible that says we are to look to the government to resolve all our problems. He gave us brains to work these things out to create a better world for all.
Maybe we should not hunt, fish, kill for beef or poultry. Maybe the farmers should quit producing crops and look to food handouts from the government. How much more are you willing to pay in taxes? Please think! it is exasperating to deal with stupidity and selfishness.

As to the environment, it is to be managed... not worshiped. The only way we can get to where the environmentalist lobby wants is to exterminate most of the human race. It has even been proposed to introduce something along the lines of bird flue to kill off 2 or 3 billion humans. Health care is good...but I resent you taking money out of my pocket at the point of a gun to pay for someone elses' health care. Governmental health care is the most inefficient method of taking care of this. If you really "love your neighbor" do something yourself. Dedicate your life to the service of others.

No. The monothestic religious mindset holds the belief that all is (directly or indirectly) created by God.
While many conservatives are also followers of a monotheistic religion (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc.) not all are.
That's why you see an apparent contradiction. You're making an assumption about religion, and then applying one particular aspect of that assumption to political and social policy.

Don't you know? We, as Republicans, want everyone to not be safe and die and deplete the environment, if not outright destroy it because we are evil and need to be stopped. We even take candy from babies and trip blind people. You don't even want to hear what we do to kittens and puppies. Oh yeah, and we tear the wings off of butterflies too. Sheesh!

Actually traditionally conservatism was about keeping religion out of politics, and government out of the bedroom and drs, office. It wasn't until the late 80s and 90s that the religious right became one of the larger contributors to the republicans. And if you notice, it is all lip service...abortion is still legal and the republicans have had control of ALL branches of government.

As a strong christian, i am definitely going to say that america really isnt a country that follows rules of God. Think of it like this, The executive government cares about making money, for us, no, for dumb things like weapons and war. This meaning that no essential needs are going to be provided like healthcare etc. But someday the world will change, and that day is to wait for.
