I have heard that ancient sharks had 6 gills slits and modern sharks have only 5. But in pictures that I have seen online, all the pictures of prehistoric sharks have only five and the only one i can find with 6 is a modern shark called a Sixgill. Please help me because I need it for research for an art project.

Most sharks have five pairs of gill slits, but some have six or seven pairs.

Elasmobranchs have five to seven pairs of gill slits.

the prehistoric shark was believed to have 6 gills,and todays, shark only 5...It depends in the spices of shark.A 6 gill was found living in the ocean depths not too long ago
