Typical, refer to 'England' then refer to 'Brits'
Think you'll find polish are coming to Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland as well. We're all Birts not just the English.
A lot of them will earn more money here than they will in Poland and at the end of the day, its their choice. Is a sad fact the there aint enough Brits prepared to work as farmhands and in other menial labour so someone has to do it.
I heard an interview on the radio the other day that with a farmer from Oxford who paid his Polish workers the same wage as his British workers so you're sweeping statement that they are cheap labour may well be incorrect in a lot of circumstances.

To ladymoon, I wanna point out that I work in the UK and I am polish, but I feel British in every sense. I come here cause I love this country and peoples mentality, and believe me dont know any polish person using public funds, we have to work legally registered in the home office for 2 years to be entitled to get them and still pay all the tax and NI contributions just like english guys. I think the problem is work attitude, I emply people as a manager, and employ them regardless the background, I only look if they are hard working and reliable.

I think they come to the UK because they view it as an opportunity to work towards a better standard of living for themselves and their families. I imagine that so many Polish people choose to come to the UK in particular because they might feel a historical tie and affinity towards this country - as you probably know, it was the invasion of Poland that sparked off British involvement in WWII, and many Polish service men and women were relocated to the UK - playing a vital part in the Battle of Britain and in cracking the Enigma code. Perhaps it's contributions like these that made the Poles think they would be welcomed in the UK, rather than exploited for cheap labour.
In addition to this, given that English is one of the global languages, I think it's entirely understandable that many people would prefer to work in English speaking countries - they've probably had more exposure to English than to many other European languages, and may feel that English skills will be more valuable in the global marketplace than other language skills.
You can't blame Polish people for the illegally low wages they get paid, blame the corrupt employers who refuse to pay anybody, regardless of nationality, a reasonable wage.

That is not true. If they come legally and are properly employed then they must get at least the minimum wage which is more than they can earn in Poland. Norfolk employed 130 polish dentists a couple of years ago. My dentist is polish and I am sure he gets paid the same as the others in the practise

They come to england for the same reason others emigrate to england - a chance for a better job or education or life style. Traditionally, new immigrants take menial jobs because of their language and/or education limitations. This has happened in UK and USA, but as each generation assimilates into the society, the next new group of immigrants take over those same jobs.

Because even with the crappest jobs we can offer and the crappest housing we can give them the standard of living is still 100 times better here than in Poland.
Good luck to them I say. The ones I know are really nice people.

One of my friends runs a security firm they had a load of polish guys on minimum wage. They would earn as much in 1 week of security as they did in a month of working in poland (as doctors, teachers, etc). PLus a lot of them are very hardworking dedicated staff. they have honour in their work. they live in the cheapest accomidation they can and ship all their spare money back to poland.

People will always go to where the jobs are. However, there are governments which tax the worker upon their return, which makes the worker a slave to their government.
