I have a Logitech webcam installed and I unplugged it from my USB port to update my girlfriends MP3 player. Which updated successfully, however, when I plugged my webcam back in, the Logitech webcam programme says my camera is not plugged in when it definitely is? Its like my computer is not now recognising my camera now. I assume I have messed up by just unplugging it. Can anybody help please????

Try removing the webcam software using Start > Control Panel > Add and Remove Programs.
Restart PC after this.
Now install webcam software agian and connect webcam only when the installation software tells you to.
If this fails, try using a different USB port.
If this fails, leave webcam connected and right click My Computer.
Choose Properties and then the Hardware tab.
Click the Device Manager button and scroll down to the USB device list.
If any of them have a yellow exclamation mark ( ! ) next to them, left click the device to highlight it and press delete key on keyboard to remove it.
Leave the Device manager window open and unplu then replug the webcam.
With a bit of luck the Found New Hardware wizard will start.
Don't let it search the internet for the software, and do install the software automatically.
If all else fails use System Restore to restore the PC to the state it was in before the problem.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
Choose a date just before the problem occurred.

Win XP gets bunged up sometimes if you unplug devices without "safely removing" them. There should be an icon in the tray on the bottom right that you can click on to force the hardware to shutdown before unplugging it. Rebooting will work but if you force them to disconnect first it shouldn't be a problem in the future. Just read that you tried to reboot as well as reinstall. I have had my machine act up like that with Itunes. The damn program gets hung up for some reason even after a restart and tends to assume your mp3 player is still connected.

first go and remove all traces of your installation from your computer and start fresh. then reinstall your webcam. if that doesn't work you may have deleted an important file or program. somewhere along the way.......good luck......
