Good question. First, look for the front of the building containing the pizzeria. This side of the building probably faces the street, and should have signs advertising the businesses located in the building. Look for a sign that says "Pizzeria" or "Pizza" or some Italian words (such as "goombah" or "wiseguy" or "whack"). Near that sign, and at street level, there should be an opening about three feet wide and seven feet high covered by a metal-and-glass device called a "door". When you locate the door, try pulling on the flat piece of metal that protrudes from its center; if that doesn't work, try pushing it. Once the door gives way, congratulations! You have just opened a pizzeria. Don't forget to close it when you're done.

I'd find out if the area you want to open the pizzeria really needs one. Far too many people open up a pizza place only to have it close within a few months due to oversaturation of the market.

If you do find that there is a demand for another pizza place, find out why people are looking for a new pizza place. For instance at the other places do they have bad service, lousy pizza, lack of pizza, other pizza costs too much, poor choice of toppings, boring store, etc. EDIT: Then look at what you will have to do in your business to make sure you can beat the competition. Just having a pizza place does not guarantee sales.

If you are sure you can deliver a pizza product that will generate revenues, and you offer something unique to your community, find a location that will attract business. For instance, in a strip mall, pick a location fairly close to the primary point of business. Let's say you pick going in the same strip mall as a video store. Try to get the store closest to the video store. The reason, people will often walk to both stores, but if they are on opposite ends of the strip mall, it may be too much of an effort for certain customers to walk to your place (they have to walk too far to the car).

I'd also check with your local chamber of commerce for ideas to see if they can help you find resources. They are in the business of helping businesses succeed.

With the doors. You pull the handles and they open.
