I'm 58, and I had bypass surgery 4 years ago. I take Lopressor for blood pressure, and Lipitor and Niaspan for cholesterol, and 162 mg aspirin daily. I can't get a decent erection anymore, and get only half hard. Is my medication to blame, or my age, or a combination? Is there anything I can do besides taking something like Viagra?

I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well.
According to my Husband, first the medications that you're taking are deliberately designed to prevent blockages in your blood-vein system. This is to prevent you from having another heart attack. The problem is that in addition to preventing more heart attacks, it also is going to give you a hard time with erections because the same action of constricting blood vessels that normally happen with erections is also being blocked. So, in order to get the desirable results you're going to need something to constrict your blood flow. My Husband's suggestion is to use an external device such as a ring, or try tantric exercises, Kagel exercises (they also do work on men and not just women), and yoga.
The other thing that you can do is to get reconnected with your partner on a more emotional level. To this point, you can try something erotic such as stimulating pictures of each other, magazines, or other such media types.
He knows for a fact that while age can play an important part in this, it is not the deciding factor. The reason why is because he personally knows men well over sixty who are still getting it on with significantly younger women and they are not complaining at all.
My little personal reply is that if there is any health problems that you might experience either now or in the future, or if you're trying to get healthy... Find an Alternative Medicine and Therapies Clinic / Office in your area. The Alternative Medicine Therapists are highly experienced people practically in every field of healing. They will design a speciallized program just for you to follow through and they might also suggest something for you to do to get your health back on track by giving you either a set of exercises to follow and/or drink / eat special herbs that will improve your overall health.
I hope this helped you out.
Take care, get well and have a wonderful day :)

Why do you still even want to get an erection? Haven't you had enough sex in your life? Do you have some grandkids or something now to tend to? Start a garden, go R.V.ing, something. Why does this bother you? Can't you just except it as a fact of life? If you're married, I'm sure your wife is ready for you to retire it anyway.
Please respond to my reply to your question because I really am curious. Help me to understand why men continue to want to have sex later on in life when I would think that they'd be tired of it by then. I mean, hell, I'm 33 and I'm tired of it already. I pray for the day when my husband no longer gets horny.

A good site with lots of info and good natural remedies about impotence is http://erectiledysfunction.toptips.org
Erectile dysfunction is very common and becomes more common when you get older. An america survey showed that at least one in five men over the age of 40 years has erectile problems and about one in ten men are completely unable to have erections. With each increasing decade of age, the chance of having erectile problems increases.
Cheers ;)

Male sexual arousal is a complex process that involves the brain, hormones, emotions, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. To solve the erectile dysfunction i suggest to check this natural method https://tr.im/4Tev5 .
Erectile dysfunction can result from a problem with any of these. Likewise, stress and mental health problems can cause or worsen erectile dysfunction. Sometimes a combination of physical and psychological issues causes erectile dysfunction. For instance, a minor physical problem that slows your sexual response may cause anxiety about maintaining an erection. The resulting anxiety can lead to or worsen erectile dysfunction.

I'd say not so much the meds - as you have reached ANDROPAUSE - the batteries are rundown. Yes it's God's plan for men. Your time for procreation is over. And you can't force it to erect. Viagra is s-h-i-t anyways - didn't do crap for me. Neither did testosterone. I tossed out my Androgel, what GARBAGE !!!!!
Everything has a beginning & everything has an end.. Welcome to life. !!!!! but you should try several acupuncture needling treatments sessions. This is short-term boost but not a long-term remedy.

Think of something else to do with your time. You are taking too much anti erection medication. Get a hobby. Leave yer wiener alone.

It is the medications that you are taking that is causing this problem. Talk with your doctor and see if there are other medications that you could take that wouldn't cause this side effect.
