Freedom of speech is not overated, nor is it unmonitored. You cannot shout fire!, in a crowded theater and cause people to trample one another. You can criticize your political leaders, talk about issues, and speak in truth about anything important to you. In some countries, even to this very day, that right does not exist. People that speak out are often executed for their verbal opinions.
Our country is not perfect but it is one of the oldest democratic nations on the Earth. May your thoughts and words improve it. I hope mine do someday, as well as others that speak out against wrong in any form.

Over-rated? No. Have you seen the idiots running the country? They apparently don't like freedom of speech.

Not so much overrated as misused. If anyone can say anything he pleases, it is often hard to discern the truth, but on the whole, it is better to have it than not.
Freedom of speech is often the freedom to make a fool of oneself in front of millions of people.

No. Without it we would have people dictating-possibly the likes of David Koresh. People died for these freedoms. There must be something to them.

Yes, you should just do what the Government tells you at all times. The government knows what is best for you. The Government will tell you what is wrong or right. Hail Government!!

It's not overrated but some people take their "hate for the government" too far. Trust me they'd have it WAAAAY worse if anyone else was running us. They should be happy.
