it depends....I shed some of them as I am able to do. I put the radio on as I drive. And if there is a song on the oldies station that I love...I turn it up really high, open all the widows in the car, no matter if it is raining, cold, snowing...and sing. That usually at least loosens a shackle sometimes.
And the others...well they are very shiny bright, polished daily. Everyone has shackles. Some of us pretend it is only pretty bracelets; put on us by our boss, our family, our lover, our children, our ....life.

The only shackles upon me are the sweet chains of "being". ... I might be fresh out of polish, but I am not sure if I'm quite ready to shed my shackles, yet.

Shackles can be embedded very deeply and be stubborn, but they are all coming off, and they never get a shine job.

I must confess that sadly, regrettably I don't even shine the darn things. I just try to keep them from jingling and jangling too much as I'm maneuvering through life. I really hate to be conspicuous.
