Morally, I suppose there's little difference.
Here's my take on it: We can choose animals rights, or we can choose environmental issues.
If we wear fur, an animal is killed for it. Same with leather.
But, fake fur (or fake leather) is a petroleum product (all plastics are), and the byproducts from making such things are thought to be heavy pollutants.
So, take your pick: pollutants, or shooting animals.
Me, I like real leather and real fur, as they are environmentally sound, and they are biodegradable.

I'm not sure I understand your question but here goes..I I think that people who are vegans will argue the cruelty and torture that animals go through in order for some of us to strut around in fur and leather. In that case, there might not be too much of a difference between wearing leather shoes and fur.But the flip side of this is leather is so available and it seems that most shoes are made of leather. Whereas fur jackets are not really a "necessity" in our closet but more like a luxurious fashion item.

I think it's more of a social thing. It's generally socially accepted to wear leather but not fur, and I think it's because as a society there is an idea that fur has come from rare animals or that they have only been killed for that reason. However, I don't think leather is guaranteed to have come from animals which have been killed for other things, and that sometimes animals can be killed just for leather. Really don't know why this is, but personally I don't wear either.

None really. It just depends on whether the fur is an endangered animal or not, but really, whats the difference? an animal has still been killed for us to use.
The only difference I can see between fur and leather is that most leather is taken from animals which have already been killed for food whereas fur is taken from animals which are bred solely for their fur.
Theres no point in saying fur farming is more cruel either as anyone who knows the process by which cows and other farm animals are bred, farmed and slaughtered would be unlikely to agree.
My pet hate is vegetarians who wear leather shoes!!

I think the only difference is that most leather is made from cows that are killed for their meat anyway so they basically want to use the entire animal to make money. Although there are other animal hides that are used for leather it is must less common, they don't in these cases use the whole animal most of the time.
The problem with animal fur is the controversy with ethics and animal welfare.
But if you have a problem with one you really should have a problem with the other.

Leather is a by-product of the meat industry. We eat the meat, and use the skin (leather) for other products. Fur animals, such as fox, mink etc are killed for their skin alone. The rest of the animal is wasted. It is one thing to kill an animal for food and not waste the other parts, but to kill something just for it's fur is not. We have enough other fabrics for clothing, including imitation fur that there is no justification for killing for vanity.

The animals are actually killed for their fur , with leather, they're killed for their meat, and then the skin is used for the leather!! I guess there's no big difference, but some fur breaders kill their animals in a most unhumane way!!

Fuc*all - there is absolutely no diff at all, ok leather is shaved fur but thats the only difference. Idiots who say fur is moraly wrong compared to leather are hypocrites and not worthy of taking notice of. Fuc* them - no really I mean this - they spout out about how "wrong" it is then wear what they want in private, its all about brownie points and i hate them

I wouldn't think twice about wearing leather, but fur is actually like carrying a dead animal around on your back.
