With a small wrist corsage you can never go wrong. A dress corsage can take away from the dress!

Personally, I would prefer the wrist corsage (thats what I got at my ball/prom). The one you pin on may ruin the dress with poking a hole in it. Just my opinion though.

A good florist does still know how to make corsages. Yes, people still wear them. A good florist would not have made the wristlet using only a ribbon like that....there are many great ways to make wristlets and that is not one of them. I will say that since the woman was not a competent florist, she probably has no idea how to make a corsage that is very light in weight that would not have damaged the fabric on your granddaughter's dress. Good florists know how to do it....you just went to a person who is not very skilled. A good florist will usually recommend to you using miniature varieties of the roses for a corsage....single large rose heads tend to be very heavy and it is difficult to make a lightweight corsage from them. Also very nice to use in lightweight corsages are things like hyacinth blossoms, tiny orchids, miniature roses, stephanotis, etc. It is disappointing to have a festive occasion....go to a florist hoping to have flowers to make it special...and find out that the florist you chose doesn't know what they are doing. I think the best way to find a good florist is to call the country club in your area....or the "ritziest" church in town...and ask for the names of who THEY think are the best florists. It may seem that that florist seems expensive...but it is all labor-intensive handwork to make corsages and wristlets...that are made correctly and will hold up even during a long evening of the kind of frantic dancing that young people do.

Most prefer a wrist one so they don't have the pin sticking them and with thin strap dresses a wrist one is more practical, ♥

it depends on the dress. if the dress is plain you might want to go for the pin one. if its like a patterned dress you should get the wrist corsage. if you dont know wat the dress looks like then just go for the wrist.
