I'm 15 weeks pregnant with twins and I have a sinus infection. I work part time 20-24 hours a week but the last few days I've been so tired I can barely cope. I feel bad not going to work but my ob dr said that it's very important that I don't over do myself. I was just wandering is it normal to be this exhausted or is it the sinus infection making things worse? I'm on antibiodics for the infection and they seem to be working but are they what's making me so tired? Money is tight and missing work is putting my job in jeopardy but I just can't get the energy to go to work even for a few hours. Just wandering if this is normal or should I be concerned that there may be something more wrong?

I was pregnant with twins a few years ago and the first symptom I had was contsanlty wanted to sleep. Fatigue is an early pregnancy symptom but when pregnant with twins ur body is working extra hard and overtime. U will find yourself falling asleep while having a conversation or wanting to just lay there like a couch potato. Nothing is wrong, u are fine and your body is doing what its supposed to do. It is also very important not to over do it at work, the next months to come are crucial and u need to really take it easy while pregnant for the sake of your babies and yourself. U need to be prepared that u might even go on bedrest later in the 2nd to early 3rd trimester because your growing baby will cause u a lot of aches, and so u dont go into labor preterm. just relax and enjoy your twin babys!! Good Luck! congrats!

You're doing great. Try to keep thinking about how it will be worth it when the babies are in your arms.

You are perfectly normal. At four months along I was so exhausted I couldn't do anything. It does get better after about 5 months or so, but with twins you can probably expect to be tired. You are manufacturing two babies afterall!
A sinus infection on its own can knock someone down. I'm sure you are really affected by it. It is just hitting you all at once. If you are needing bedrest or can't work, you can file with your employer for the family medical leave act. Your doctor fills it out and your employer has to let you stay off work until you can handle it again, and it guarantees your job. I know money is tight, but those babies are more important.
Please check into some services such as WIC. They can provide milk, cheese, and some other staples. It is not welfare but they help pregnant women and children meet their needs when money is tight.
Get lots of fluids right now, soups too. Then remember to eat some good protein, you need to get your iron levels up there. I assume you are taking a pre natal vitamin.

OK. Get a good nap, keep drinking and have a little ice cream!

15 Weeks Pregnant Twins

the saying goes.. everything doubles with twins. Thats true.. so as tired as a pregnant lady may be, she will get her energy back sooner than a pregnant lady who is carrying twins. Your little ones have already knocked you flat on your back and now this sinus infection has taken the last little bit of your energy. As of right now I would say not to worry too much about it, sleep as much as possible and try to up your immune system so you can get better. Wait a week, if you still feel that exhausted ask the doctor, there is a possiblity you may be anemic or are not getting the right nutrients for your aleing body... Most likely this will go away as you get less sick... and certainly by 20 weeks most pregnant woman feel much more energized (even those with twins) Best of luck to you.. try not to worry too much about your job, talk to your boss if it is possible about your problem... most jobs are afraid of fireing pregnant people (fear of being sued) so if you have not dropped the bomb, now is the time to do it. Feel better

I don't want you to be a leech off society, but I think that you should quit your job and apply for all assistance programs you can qualify for. You need to worry about you, not $$. You can probably get medicaid because of the pregnancy, the child will be covered after birth and if it's available where you are you can apply for the wic program (women, infants and children) which will give you checks for certain foods and milk and stuff while you are pregnant and for awhile after and will pay for the infant formula if you decide not to breast feed.
The sinus infection is probably hanging in there because you are overworked and not getting enough rest. Being pregnant is a job in itself, just wait till the little bugger comes out, they you will really know what work is. Just make sure you take care of you, because now you is x's 3.

At 15 weeks I was (and really still am now that I am a few weeks farther) exhausted all the time. Napping in my car at lunch time, going to sleep just minutes after my kids go to bed where I would normally stay up and watch good tv.

You should sleep as much as possible and try to nap over lunch, it helped me to get through the day.

I was real tired at work (frequently nodded off) but I sit at a desk so it wasn't dangerous or anything.

Being tired can have similar reflex-delaying effects as drinking alcohol, sometimes worse. So if your job is driving or operating machinery or anything like that it is best to stay home.

I just read in this Pregnancy book that a pregnant woman's body exerts more energy just standing still as a non-pregnant person does mountain climbing!! Interesting, and I really believe that its true, or atleast feels that way. I think you are fine, just experiencing one of the normal side effects of pregnancy. As for work, maybe you just need a little break. I am also 15 weeks, I was working about the same amount of hours as you and cut it just a little and noticed that it did help a bit..

Congrats on the babies! Yea Hon, I think being this tired and out of it is kinda normal. If you are really worried, contact your OB/GYN or your family Dr.
Stay home, don't worry about the job, they can't fire you when on maternity leave. Just concentrate on getting better.
You need to be ready for your Third trimester. Relax as best you can now. Put on something mellow, get a warm shower on, mellow tunes, and indulge your cravings a bit.
Tell yer old man to get on the ball and pamper you some. You're earning it.

Sorry honey but even without the infection (although probably adding to it) you are going to be tired, this pregnancy I was tired up until about 20 weeks, got energy back and have been back to sleepy for three weeks now, im about 33 weeks. good luck and I promise there is nothing wrong pregnancy puts a lot on your body and makes you extreamly tired and worn out, LIsten to doc, if your tired take it easy, thats the best for you and your baby.

pregnancy itself is REALLY exhausting. your body is undergoing some pretty intense changes, especially since you are having twins. its double the EVERYTHING. i cannot stress how important it is that you get enough rest, and make sure you are eating semi healthy at least. when i was pregnant i would sleep from the minute i got home from work till the minute i had to get up for work the next day. lasted for a few months. i wish you the best of luck. FEEL BETTER!!
