well they have succeeded in turning the world against the U.S.,but other than that nothing of substance,i do agree the U.S. should show the u.n. the door,we could use the land for a park celebrating the U.S. military, with displays of tanks, fighter jets, warships, artillery, missiles, boy that would finally give me a reason to visit liberal central, and it will really piss-off the u.n.,and liberals of the world, all in favor say i. i !

I think the biggest failure of the UN is the security council which is rendered totally ineffective because of the 5 countries that have veto power. Same goes for World bank which is somewhat an evil organization.

The other organizations of the UN are somewhat more successful

* United Nations Commission on Human Rights is somewhat helping on the international level
* World Health Organization (WHO) eliminated smallpox in 1977 and is close to eliminating polio.
* United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has helped a lot of developing countries with various projects.
* United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is well known for some very successful programs
* United Nations Children's Fund(UNICEF) has helped a lot of children in developing countries in terms of education and what not.

It is well known that the UN suffers from a lot of corruption on both the international and the national office levels.

It has done no good to the weak ones; never. and it won't. It always supports the powerful ones. Take as example the Palestinian issue; the Palestinians WON'T EVER have a country unless the UN and USA want to. But this won't ever happen because they are afraid of being called anti-Semites. No one wants to displease the Israeli.
Another example; the Kurds won't ever have their own country for the same reasons....Who wants to displease Turkey, the USA's friend?! One last clue; no humane aid went to Lebanon! The UN was completely absent after this war...
So, what's the conclusion? National organizations like the UN shouldn't exist. AT ALL. We don't need a national organization to help and support the powerful ones; this job is superbly done by the USA and the European Union.
End of story.

The UN is corrupt and immoral. Just look at the oil for food scandal, rape and murder in Africa, unenforced resolutions, and Kofi, who thinks he is the leader of the world. The UN is outdated and should be dismantled!!!!And now!!!!
