I had my period 9-10-06 and it lasted for only one day and it was very light. I took a pregnancy test last week early in the morning and it came out positive. Then later that night i took another test and it came negative. I went to the dr. yesterday and did a blood test and the came negative. i have had the symptoms. could i still be pregnant?

A blood test would pick up even the smallest traces of the pregnancy hormone...so chances are your not pregnant. I would head back to your doc and get a full physical.

Most likely, the only way the doctor's test would have come out wrong is if the person who did the test did something careless (which is not all that likely).

With regard to your positive test, is there any chance you let it sit longer than it is supposed to?

With regard to the one you took at night, the reason people are told to use first-morning urine is because it has been in the bladder for several hours rather than being diluted by drinking water, tea, etc. all through a day. Concentrations are higher in first morning urine.

(Any chance you've used birth control hormones in the recent past?- They can affect periods.)

You obviously got an incorrect reading on one of the tests you did. Either you let the first test sit too long or else the night-time urine was too diluted.

Did the doctor talk about the chance that you had/have an early pregnancy that didn't continue to grow (a "missed abortion" or "missed miscarriage")? When this happens the tests go negative but a miscarriage doesn't occur. Pregnancy symptoms usually disappear. You said, "I HAVE HAD the symptoms": Does that mean you experienced them but no longer are having them?

If the last (and odd) period you had was on September 10 (or did you, by any chance, switch the 9 and 10 and mean "October 10) that would mean you essentially sort of skipped the 9/10 on and then missed another one in October. If that's the case you need to talk more to the doctor about the fact that you have sort of missed/missed two periods at this point. I find it hard to believe a doctor would not have addressed this issue more if this is the case.

If you meant the last (and odd) period was on October 9 then you should be just about due for another one soon. It is entirely possible that you just had a "funny" period and that the next one will be normal (or maybe even a little more than usual). Some very early pregnancies are never detected before they fail before there's much chance to detect them. Many of the symptoms of a period that's about to arrive are similiar to the sypmtoms of early pregnancy.

Unless a mistake/carelessness occurred when the blood test was done it is unlikely you have a "good" pregnancy, if you ever had one at all. You probably need to assume you're not, wait for the next period, see when it arrives and whether it seems normal, and then be certain you are not pregnant. If a normal period doesn't arrive then see the doctor again.

Chances are you were never pregnant at all. Other things can slow down/halt periods. Any chance you've been under a lot of stress or else getting a lot of physical exercise?

No, ur not pregnant. U probably got a false positive or evaporation line in the pregnancy test which is very common. Blood tests are never wrong..they will detect even the most minimal level.

Well, in that case you could still be pregnant. The doctors blood test could easily not have picked up the hormone that causes pregnancy. Give it a couple more days (try a week) and go take a pregnancy test again.

You could have a bladder infection, a kidney infection an STD. They ALL present the same symptoms as early pregnancy.
