If you have the space, I would definitely recommend getting a DJ and have a dance party. When I turned 18, my parents did something like this for me, and they also hired an improv group from a local club to come over and specially perform for my friends and I-it was hilarious, and half their act was dedicated to reinacting stories that my friends had secretly submitted. If you have access to something like this, I would definitely recommend it, because every single person LOVED it.
Food-wise, load up! Get tons of everything, so that everyone feels appreciated and accounted for depending on their different tastes. My party had a sampling of stuff from assorted restaurants and my friends were just blown away.
I would definitely talk to you daughter about anything specific she definitely wants to include, but show her that you can be the cool mom she knows you can be, and aim to impress! She'll love it I'm sure. Good Luck!!

Get a good sounds system and ask your daughter to chose the music she wants to be played. You should serve a variety of food so it caters for every teens need. I suggest Crisps, popcorn, pizza, chips, pasta, cake, buscuits, also try something new like noodles with stir fry. If there are boys and girls coming over then ask your daughter to choose loads of movies and play them. They can dance. Or how about having a barbaque party? It doesnt sounds very special, but it is. I had one recently and it was fabulous.

Definitely get her feed back first of likes and dislikes, then go from there. Her input is key to ensure that she captures the atmosphere of the event.
Something where all the guest participate - maybe theme or an activity that had teams might be fun for all; perhaps to the roller rink 80's style!

Rent a good sound system, a couple of kegs and leave the kids to entertain themselves. A bowl of condoms would probably be a good idea too.
