No one when far because they had to walk. Most people never left the city.
Poor people walked, if you were luck to have some money you could have a donkey or the more expensive horse.
The richer people would have horses with carts or fancy horse with decorated saddles.
The very rich had many slaves to carry them about.

For the most part people in Ancient Rome and the rest of the Ancient world for that matter walked. Rome had a very good system of paved roads that made travel much easier but for the most part it was on foot. Only the rich rode beasts of burden or in carts or chariots. The Roman army, with the exception of the Calvary, walked everywhere they went. The Calvary was only a small portion of the Roman military. People just hoofed it.

Each temple used to be committed to at least one god or goddess; you cannot lump all of them in combination in a single temple. Sure, all of the temples that have been ever constructed are nonetheless dedicated to their special deities, except they've worn totally away. How might a temple ever grow to be un-dedicated to them? As for the faith of paganism nonetheless being practiced, sure, however cutting-edge fake pagans (pressured youth and suckers, almost always) more commonly *do* lump all of them in combination.
