I dont understand what Kerry meant by "botched" joke. I mean, before Kerry's insult of enlisted servicemen, I thought "botched joke" meant that people didnt laugh, or the tone of the delivery didnt work with the substance of the joke.

Like if Chris Rock said that, I would have assumed he meant that his joke didnt get laughs, not that he didnt mean what he said.

Is that what Lurch Kerry meant...that he didnt mean what he said? If so, then it wasnt 'botched', it was 'super-huge-foot-in-the-mouth'.

Think a conservative would ever say such a thing? Bush is easily the worst orator in conservative history, and hes never said anything so outrageous insulting to any segment of America in his political career.

Did Kerry not mean to testify against his on country and provide evidence sufficient to indited is own country on the violation international law charges...did he 'botch' that?

I dont care what your politics...to defend Kerry is lower than sewer bacteria.

The point is not what he "meant" or said he meant. Kerry's just another liberal moron with no ideas on how to solve the problems facing the country, so he compensates by bad-mouthing those who are actually working on the problems.

The point, in fact, is what he said, and whether he meant it or not, Kerry was articulating latent feelings against the military he's obviously held since he left the military over 30 years ago. He would actually be pathetic if he weren't a veteran--albeit one with a questionable service record. As it is, I find it depressing that 48 percent of the people actually voted for him.

I do not believe Kerry meant to disparage servicemen, but I do believe he inadvertantly revealed his low opinion of the men and women who enlist in the military. Kerry was simply trying to deliver a low blow to the man most Americans elected to the office of the presidency. He certainly did botch things up, but the joke's on him.

I think the minute he put his foot in his mouth, he started to choke on it, and he had to come up with a reason, such as it was. He had to save face, but he has ruined his political career. I wouldn't have voted for him anyway, even if he hadn't told his botched joke. Whether his remarks were aimed at the fighting troops or the president, they were in poor taste.

I'm a democrat and I approve this message.

He botched the joke and he apologized. Kerry shouldn't be allowed to talk in public anymore.

Au contraire. Defending Kerry is honorable. It's what our servicemen do every day, and they are proud to do it.

What's lower than bacteria is voting for him, or lying about what he actually said. He did have a right to say what he actually said.

He didn't deliver it the way it was scripted. He got tongue tied. What part of this is so hard to understand?

I guess in your mind I'm sewer bacteria. Can't say I honestly give a ****.

From what I understand, he "supposingly" read the statement wrong from his notes. Well, they have to think of something quick to try to "cover-up" his down-grading remark. Still, it WAS said and people are not going to forget it or take it lightly.

Being as I haven't served in the armed forces, I can't say anything bad about someone who did. Can you?
