Even my boyfriend does... They'll say stuff not racial comments or anything bad really but they'll say something about black people, and then say 'no offense' to me?? How should I be offended? Should I be?

If you have explained to your friends that you are Puerto Rican and they still persist in calling you black then you have a right to be offended at them not accepting that you would prefer to be called Puerto Rican.

You should however keep in mind that most Puerto Ricans come from African, Indigenous Native and European roots like a lot of Latin America

Puerto Rico as you may know is a country with three colors or roots when "los tainos" our puertorrican ancestors were acsually abused and rapped by spanish, africans are part of us too. Spain brought slaves from africa and they were abused too and they all mixed to make "el jibaro". But that doesn't make you black at all. Just tell them what you really think.

Really, you shouldn't take offense to it. But do you correct them when they say a comment of that nature? And if you do, what is their response/reaction?
