In the UK, Blue Peter, it's often said that every new Director of Kids TV at the BBC enters with the ambition of getting it cancelled - but it's never happened - been on nearly 50 years - it's probably been on longer than Sesame Street, was Sesame Street ever broadcast in black and white? I know Blue Peter was.

Apparently its The Sooty Show, which started in 1954. Although it has changed its name several times, it has been on TV every year since 1954.
