Why would you want to use tampons again, if you have had TSS then the last thing you would want to do is risk contracting the disease again, not to mention the many other risks associated with tampons.

http://www.spotsite.org – The tampon health web site.
http://www.tamponalert.org.uk – Exposing dangers of TSS.

Tampons and pads are not your only options, also commercial options as not the only options, you may very well find pads uncomfortable if you have used nothing but commercial options, where as cloth options and options such as padded panties are far more comfortable.

http://www.lunapads.com – Cloth pads, padded panties, sponges, blankets and cups.
http://www.reddyspads.com – Cloth g-style or belted pads.
http://www.natracare.com – Organic tampons and pads.

If you want to continue to use tampons then it would be far better to use organic, sponge or homemade tampons, this is because commercial tampons are made from synthetic materials and contain chemicals due to the bleaching process, both these things significantly add to the health risks of tampons.

http://www.jadeandpearl.com – Sponge tampons.
http://www.natracare.com – Organic tampons and pads.

If you want to use internal options then you would be far better off looking at menstrual cups, as well as being totally safe unlike tampons menstrual cups are also hygienic, environmentally friendly, body-positive, cheap and they are also more convenient than tampons as they can be left in for up to 12 hours without risk or leaking, they can also be worn at night and before your period is due.

http://www.divacup.com – Silicone bell-shaped menstrual cups.
http://www.keeper.com – Rubber bell-shaped menstrual cups.
http://www.softcup.com – Soft plastic diaphragm-shaped menstrual cups.

Have a look through all your menstrual options, when you start using tampons is not the issue you should be concerned about, instead you should be thinking about how to prevent increased risk of TSS again by looking at safer menstrual options.

As for when the effects of TSS go away, it depends totally on what problems you had with it, I know of people who have lost fingers, lost hearing, lost hair, had to have constant biopsies, had life-long diabetes and anaemia, constant high temperatures and high heart rate – the list of things that can be effected by TSS is too long to even think about listing because TSS can have radical effects on health.

Tampon Alert has a lot of experiences from women who have had TSS, there is also this post from someone I know who has had TSS, she explains all she went through - http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_lib/56396.html

If you have had TSS then you would have needed hospitalisation because TSS is deadly, it is not something you just walk away from or something that goes without treatment.

See a doctor first. Wearing tampon is not so good. The reason is your period had to flow out. The more it stay soaked inside you there are chance you may get infection. Beside you must change at least every 2-3 hours. Depend on how much you flow. Wearing pad is not comfortable. There are new ones out in the market. try that and see if you feel comfortable.

you will have to check with your doc but think you have to wait 12 weeks , use always pads as they are less bulky and very protective until then , look up womens health on your google etc you might find your answer . the doc might not recommend using tampons again , so beware , but hopefully the effects will go , but this is serious stuff so look into it . good luck x
