just quick question, can i get the harddrive of my xbox and modify it, while in my computer?....

Well I beleive you can buy a hard drive, and just hook up the Xbox HD and your new HD and copy the Xbox HD to your HD and put it in your Xbox, it should work, I never tried it so do so at your own risk, but Ive done it with regular HD's b4.

I beleve the process you are referring to is "softmodding". It is a fairly simple process if you are comfortable with working on basic internal PC components. I have completed approximately 10 such mods with no major issues. Finding the software required is typically the most challenging part. Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.
