During fantasy football playoffs, what happens to players who belong to teams that are no longer playing (teams that have been eliminated)? Do they become free agents?

No. They remain on that team until they get dropped by the owner. Due to the can't cut list, the best players remain on the team. Then you better hope you have the highest waiver on week 15 :-) so you can get the best player available.

in yahoo they stay with the team until the end. in some leagues there's a cut off date to pick up free agents and there's a trade deadline also. during the playoffs you can't pick up free agents.

Yes, if the team that is wanting to purchase the rights to one of those players, and they have enough salary cap room

No, not unless their owners release them. There's usually consolation games for the 5th place/7th place finishers.
