i am sure there are women that smoke that still have healthy children, however i watched a tv show the other night on some premature babies that were born and they were so tiny and had health problems. If that thought isnt enough to make you give up i dont know what is.
I used to smoke socially before i found out i was pregnant, but the health of ny baby is more important. Use this an opportunity to give up all together if you can......dont look for approval to have one or two, you know its wrong. I still feel like one occasionally but will not do it.

That is great!
You have done very well with cutting down to one or two per day! Still, any cigarette smoke, whether it is first or secondhand, its dangerous. Most likely your baby will be alright, but smoking while you are pregnant can cause harm to your fetus. It could be born stillborn, or very low birth weight, or possibly have breathing problems. Look at it this way, you have come this far, so do all you can to quit completely. Still, I give you "madd props" for getting this far!

Yes it is dangerous for you to be smoking while you are pregnate. I will not lie to you I did smoke when I was pregante hardly if ever.
I tried my hardest to quit but I couldn't so instead of smoking I would put a sucker in my mouth and suck on it when I wanted 1. I did back slide a few times but when you go from smoking alot to hardly smoking it is really hard.
Since you can't use other things to help you quit smoking and other ppl (Like the ones above me) have most likely never smoked in there lives. It is hard to quit I won't lie to you about that...even if you do have extra help from patches and so forth.
My son was born healthy and he doesn't have any health problems at all besides being sick like every normal child. His dr told me that he is doing above his age actuallly.
It is still best to stop smoking compeltely because after your baby is born you don't want to smoke around them. Also because when you are pregante the baby feeds off you so to speak. So just try your best to stop and don't feel bad if you have a back slide. Your only human I know this isn't an answer that you want to hear but it is best for your child for you to stop.
Because once they are born they don't need to be around the toxic smoke that comes off them because it could lead to sids and could also give them ashma.
Just take your mind away from smoking find things that get you out of your house like work, walking, ect...fun safe activities while you are pregante. Find the times that you most want a cig and try to avoid them. For instance if you smoke alot while on the computer try to avoid it or don't stay on for a long time.
Also napping and getting out of the house are really good things. You are pregante so just relax and if you really need a cig badly try to suck on a sucker or chew some gum..something that would take your mind off of wanting one.

I quit smoking before I found out I was pregnant but being pregnant insured I wouldn't start again. Smoking is so dangerous that I've heard several people say that their doctors have told them smoking ciggs are more dangerous to your unborn child than smoking marijuana. Plus...smoking ciggs increases your chances of your baby dying of SIDS by a good percentage. Quit as soon as you can but do it safely because quitting suddenly can make your baby sick. However these people telling you to STOP COLD TURKEY are WRONG!!!!! Do not do that! You can make your baby very very very sick!!! Talk to your doc asap!

My mother had four perfectly healthy children, who weighed between 6 lbs. 8 oz. and 9 lbs. 1 oz. My sisters and I were born lively, squalling and hungry!
Mother smoked a pack a day.
Of course, this was back in the day when we didn't realize that if we smoked even one cigarette, or ate tuna fish, or had a single Harvey Wallbanger at Christmas, that our children would be born crippled and blind.
Now we know better.

There's actually a study going on now how stopping smoking cold turkey can in fact be dangerous while pregnant. of course all dr.s will tell you to quit but they will say that even if you cut your finger. it's best to cut back and gradually stop. do not use the patch. that will place too much nicotine in your system.
my wife smoked with both of our kids and they turned out 100% healthy.

Well no you can't because smoking gives your developing fetus respiratory problems, babies whose mothers smoke during pregnancy tend to suffer from asthma, and lots and lots of respiratory problems, and the most dangerous thing is that when your baby's little Inocent lungs start developing, they absorb all the chemicals that you have been inhaling when smoking, so do your baby a favor and quit smoking now, don't be selfish, smoking is your choice but not our baby's

Take it easy & set a goal of maybe 15 weeks pregnant to be to zero. By trying to quit too fast or if it is causing you great stress will do more harm to your baby than smoking!

Alot of people are pretty judgemental when it comes to smoking, try not to let it make you feel bad. Acctually, if you smoke and become pregnant, it is bad and increases your chance of misscarriage if you quit cold turkey, as it puts alot of stress on your body when its used to getting that nicotine, so what you are doing is fine. Slowly ween yourself off, I did that when I was pregnant, then quit, then a few months later I woudl have one here and there, then quit, and start.lol, its hard, but anyway, I smoked on and off through my pregnancy, and my son is really healthy. Good luck.

Well honestly you want to strive to quit smoking but some women just can't. As long as you cut back as far as possible then I think it would be okay, in a very slim way. :\
It is hard to quit smoking but do the best you can for your babys sake.
