Lots of answers from people who don't actually live in Whiston. I do (we are off Lickers Lane). I do and its okay. Not the richest suburb of Liverpool but there are some nice pockets. It varies quite a bit from estate to estate.
Good access to the Motorways. Good trains into Liverpool Lime street and the other way to Warrington. We have a regional hospital on our doorstep and a massive Tescos in Prescot with average small town shops too. Shopping is good in St Helens, better in Liverpool. 'Out of town' type shops, go to Warrington (IKEA). We have our own safari park (in Prescot again).
Not too much in the pub department, unless you enjoy drinking in tap rooms. We are short of a Wetherspoons or a food type pub. Some good pubs in Prescot though, a short taxi ride away.
I find its quite a young populous in Whiston. Loads of young families. I guess that as the housing estates were built, couples moved in then had kids. That's certainly the case on ours as there are few children over 10 years old, the rough age of the estate (give or take 9 months).

Its small and boring. They only have a hospital which is a major hospital in that region. very good for going into Liverpool city centre or St Helen Town centre. They have a small shopping area but nothing much. No clubs or pubs to speak of really.
I live in St Helens which is it's neighbour. Great for buses. Got a big Tesco, Boots, Next, Mc Donalds etc retail park at one end, Hospital and the road through Whiston is an alternative route to the M62 into Liverpool centre so can get very busy. Got a safari park!
Depends what you like and what you're life is like. There is a sports centre but not sure how good, I think the nearest golf course is Blundells Hill in Rainhill which is neighboured. Some nice restaurants dotted around, a few labour and conservative clubs, Swimming baths, garden centre, Asda etc..... Like anywhere really.

Woolton is prob the best area to live , there are some really nice expensive houses there. I dont think ill comment on bad areas as there are quite a few. Unfortunately , there are now too many young kids who think that by putting on a hoodie sweatshirt instanty makes you as hard as nails . Join gangs , and then shoot each other thinking it makes them harder still. Most street corners in inner city liverpool are like this now . Thats why i moved from breck road.

I live in Southport, Merseyside and it's mainly a tourist town with lots of older/retired people, it's okay if you like quiet towns?
Tourist season can be pretty packed on certain main streets such as, Lord Street, but all in all, it's pretty low key.
Not much to do, the one main attraction (Pleasureland) was closed down and moved to Blackpool, not a whole lot to do around here, so, if you like peace and quiet, you'll like it.
Liverpool being a bigger city, you would probably enjoy it there, more to do, more to see, etc......
