NO WAY! just cause some people are irresponsible why should others miss out. You should have seen the look on my sons face when hs daddy safely set off some small fireworks in our garden. Why spoil others joy? There's lots of other things you could apply this question to....like "dangerous dogs" when really mostly it's irresponsible owners. or why not ban cars and make everyone take public transport?!
I know i'm perhaps taking it too far, but I think instead of banning lots of things people should get back to being more responsible for their own actions. Stop sueing everyone for everything. People need to act with more concern for themselves and others and if they dont the consequences should be severe. However, genuine accidents should not turn into a court case!
By the way Dilly dall.... said it was celebrating Guy fawkes but its not its the thwarting of the plot...the fact that he was found out and stopped!!!!

People abuse fireworks EVERY year in EVERY country. A few people have to ruin the fun for EVERYONE! Unfair as it may seem I believe fireworks should be banned. The displays are better ... they cost thousands of dollars... and the community or the city get to get together and share a christmas like ... vibe. They are also safer... If you think it is unfair to ban fireworks then you should look it at the point of view of people who have had fireworks blown up in their letterbox, thrown at their car or pets...

I think Fireworks should be subject to stronger regulations.
I think anyone who wishes to have fireworks (including domestic ones in the back yard) needs to apply for a licence in advance. Before getting one they need to have had some sort of health & safety and basic first aid training.
I also think they can only get their fireworks from a registered central point (may be the fire station) NOT the high street.
Fireworks can be fun if treated with respect.

yes total selling of fireworks to the pubic should be banned and fireworks should only be at public/organised events.
I am tired of every year of fireworks going off weeks before Nov 5th and weeks after. It's kinda ironic that you have to have a licence to own a gun but leading up to Nov 5th and yet, if your over 16 you can go out to any newsagent or shop I have even seen them for sale in a toy store and buy explosives , there are those idiots who think its cool and fun or "its a joke" then to light up a firework and start throwing it around in the streets and shoving them into someones letter box or worse still to throw it at someone, then when these idiots get burnt or hurt for miss using the dam things they start looking around for someone to screw them of every penny they have,or worse if they hurt someone else, they get a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again.
Its the same year after year Halloween and Nov 5th time, what gives out the idea to youngsters to start acting like total hooligans
Pets and animals don't like the noise and you have to consider the elderly too.

Well, I'd say probably yes - except in certain areas where it's save. There's to many Pyromaniac's (just like the monster that started the fire that killed the 5 Firemen). Any more - it's just not safe to have fireworks unless it's in a controlled environment.

Don't ban the fireworks, ban the liability suits from idiots who do stupid things with them and hurt themselves. Make tougher laws to deal with property damage and hurting others. Then actually enforce the laws.

Reluctantly, banned for public use but allowed in narrow time frame for licensed events.

Totally agree - why sell gun powder to potential lunatics or even terrorists?
Why open the door to numerous accidents, lost eyes, terrible burns? Why not just sell guns instead?
Guy Fawkes: why do we celebrate this lunatic who was an anarchist that tried to blow up the government and in fact he was hung, drawn and quartered. Would we celebrate other similar lunatics like Saddam Hussein or Adolf Hitler?
