When I was in Paris several years back, I stayed at Auberge Jeunesse Le D'Artagnan. It was good then and about 20 a night. They did have lockouts during the day but you're not there to sleep all day anyway. See if you can get the 3-trip train deal or an unlimited monthly pass to save money.

Hi,

Well ... it depends of you hostels choice !
In France, food is more expensive than is USA.
In a 2 stars hotel in Paris, you may pay 80 € for a night (about 60 $).
Try to get a hotel outside the center of the city (cost and noise).
I think 600 $ is the minimum for 13 days.
Be carefully, on the Champs D'Elysées, a coke may cost 8 € !

As far as hostels go there are many for around 20 - 25 dollars a night, right in th middle of Paris. Twizi.com has a map and detailes of hostels in Paris that cost less than 25 dollars.
