For groups, I'd call it a tie between The Jam (early 80s) and Midnight Oil.

I like too many songs to have a favorite, but The Jam's "A Town Called Malice" was always catchy, even if a bit overused in commercials and movies.

I still love the new wave stuff and bands like The Human League, heaven 17, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, ABC, OMD and so on... the 80's was a fantastic decade for music. There were still cr*p bands but this rap stuff was virtually unheard of... excellent.......

I like allsorts but those mentioned hold special memories for me..
