I work for a non-profit agency that deals with young people in conflict with the law, aka: Young Offenders. Although I do enjoy both my job and co-workers it would be nice to start a little business and be self-employed. The fact though that close to 9 our of 10 business ventures fail within the first year is very scary. My fiance has her own business and has had it now for over 13 years and it is quite successful. I suppose if I ever won a lottery or fell into a huge sum of cash I would like to open up a place for youth to come and spend time, rather than hanging out on street and having nothing to do. A big stipulation would have to be that there would not be drugs, alcohol and or weapons allowed on the premises. Video games, basketball court, big screen TV's and food would be supplied for youth to use at their convienience. As well adult mentors would be available for these young people if they felt a need to talk about anything that was bothering them at the time, or they wanted to find answers for.

Who doesn't want to be their own boss?
My husband and I currently own a small blacktop paving and sealcoating company, with the hopes of expanding in the near future. I currently work full time, attend college full time, take care of our 3 year old daughter, do the financial part and sales part of our business. If I would quit my job and just do everything else, it would be so much easier, but as I look at it, I still have bills to pay and a daughter to raise, we also are taking a couple of trips this year over seas, so my money earned is like extra spending money and money for savings for our family. I do get burned out, but this is just how life is working for me right now. If our business does expand, then I probably will quit my full time job.

I started my own business for that very reason. I am now setting myself up so that I do not have to work for anyone else. Oh yeah, and the cost was only $49.

I dont have that problem i work for myself and will continue to do so.The problem with business owners is that the money goes to there head and along with that is the abuse of power. Those that work for me r made to feel at home. We have a ball!!!

No Thanks. The governement has put so many restrictions, reports, and taxes on business owners it isn't worth it.
