Its a freakin lawn mower on two wheels, Fuel, Air, Spark. Maybe you should take it to a dealer if you cant figure it out. Try messing with the choke on the carb first. If your getting it started and it dies when warm maybe its running a little too lean or maybe a little too rich and your flooding it at an idle. after this check the electrical ignition system. Follow it from the points, to the coil and then to the spark plug.

a cold engine needs a lot of fuel, check for vacuum leaks at the compliance fittings (rubber manifolds that attach carb to heads). A pretty common problem on that bike. Spray gumout around rubbers while at warmed up idle, a drastic change in rpm indicates a vacumn leak .

My dirtbike does the same thing just wait wait like half a minute and ride with your choke fully on, and the get the rpm's(not your speed) and then push the choke back in.

carbs first magneto next chances are its a stuck choke check the choke cable
