Once our nation produced leaders of genuine high quality like Franklin Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower, both men of different party's but interested in the best for America, where are leaders of this caliber to be found today, I sure can't see anyone with the strength and determination of these men had in either party today, can America still produce great leadership or are we in our decline?

I think a country like a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Sadly there are a lot of weak links around here. People used to be proud in this country. People fought for it,died for it, sacrificed for it. Today the people who do that are called stupid.

I wish I knew. Maybe in this day of 24-hour news channels, there is no hope for a real leader. Maybe TV presence and sound bites will always win out over ideas and substance. Maybe people want quick, easy solutions to complex problems, and therefore will never vote for someone who asks them to think and work hard and sacrifice and face realities like FDR did. I hope that's not true, but right now when I look at politics, I don't exactly see a lot of hope.

So much of today's mass media information has caused this decline in trust. Not that information is bad but the knowledge of so much is hard to use. People are the same as always, the same problems were there with them we just didn't know about it as we do today. The caliber of citizens are out there, I truly believe that.

They have been assasinated. JFK and RFK are examples of this, I think in about 20 years we could see a new political star somebody with genuine interest in America. Hopefully, they won't kill him/her.
