i think they weren't able to meet up because he was supposed to be dead, the only reason he could go back and meet her during the bithday party was because he still should have been alive then but the reason he never showed up at the restaurant was because he died that day, but i agree still kinda confusing

You have to remember that there is a whole two years between them, so they aren't in the same time frame at all. It is a very confusing movie, I just tried not to think about it and enjoy the cute Bullock/Reeves screen chemistry.

They were only able to meet at the end when they pre-planned it like 2 years beforehand. The other times you saw were split screens...them writing to each other but narrating it like a conversation.

i'm not too sure. i can't really remember- i saw it when it first came out.
i know it did depend whether or not they were both at the same place at the exact same time (hour, minute, second) on the same day and what the person who answered above my

haha, I was confused too!! If anyone can answer they are awesome! I couldn't figure that movie out to save my life!!

this movie had me and my dad sooooooooooooo confused we were ready to break the dvd in half-lollollollol sorry i dont have the answer.
