Interesting question. I hate seeing hets making out in public, and they get all mad if we show any kind of affection towards each other. I say be yourself, dont worry about wether or not others are comfortable, if they dont like it, they can look away, just like we have to when hets stick each others tongues in each others mouths in front of tons of people. I used to worry about making others comfortable, but the way I feel now is that this is a free country, and about the only right we have is the right to show affection in public. There is no law against it, as there are many other laws against us.

It may be awkward for some people to see couples of the same sex together, but then again for some it's awkward to see couples of 2 different races together. That's their problem if you aren't doing something to make them feel awkward -they will just have to learn to live with the fact that these days not every couple is opposite sex & same race.
Personally, I get a good feeling when I see any couple. Any time you can find somebody that you love & that loves you it's a wonderful thing -regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or gender.

Honestly, it makes me feel a little uneasy. I guess it's so ingrained in me and a lot of others that you simply don't do that. And most of the times I've publicly shown physical affection towards another gay man, it felt like I was trying to prove a point. But a few times, I've kissed or hugged another guy publicly in a non-gay area, and it felt good. It was very spontaneous and I didn't have time to think about it until I'd done it.
It's messed up but a lot of us internalize the disapproval that's directed against us. And, of course, you have to think about the fact that some people have violent reactions to it. Maybe it's not as bad regarding women....
I used to feel safe holding hands in gay areas, like West Hollywood or the Castro or wherever, until I realized that most gay bashers seek out gay people in ....well...gay areas. I guess it's logical. But it's weird that you're probably physically safer in suburban or non-gay areas, even though you might get a few weird looks or comments.

I think it is great! What i find sad are hetero couples who cannot for some frigid reason have any public display of emotion......i was once pushed away in public for giving a bf a kiss on the cheek.....I NEVER forgot that. It was easier to hang with the ladies i will tell youthat.....people nearly expect us to be touchy and gossipy...they havent a clue what hapens in our heads.
In answer to your question,...I think it wi wionderful to see two same sex individuals walking and having an intimate conversation......GREAT!

No it isn't awkward unless you happen to be somewhere in the middle of a fundy convention or something.... even then who really cares what they think. I'll start being conserned about their sensibilities when that take MINE into consideration, you know, little things like older ladies who seem to marinate themselves in perfume, old guys with a 5 hair comb-over, speaking about Jesus within the first 10 words of a conversation....

I don't care, most people don't care if it's women. Women are all huggy with their friends and stuff anyway, so who'd know the difference. The only people who will be uncomfortable will be the wives and girlfriends of gawking men if you should decide to kiss her.

For me it's a releif. Living in the American Bible Belt, it gets old seeing straight couples everywhere. When I see a same-sex couple I'm relieved to be around "my own kind" for once.

Be the person God intended you to be. Enjoy your time with your girlfriend. I see girls holding hands all the time. Just don't put yourself in a situation to draw attention to yourselves. Have a good time and enjoy your date.

it is beautiful . even more beautiful than seeing hetero couples for me because it shows that they care enough for each other to publicly display their affection in such a uptight society
