One of the best things about Techno music and the culture surrounding it is that you can really do whatever you want to the beat and you are going to be ok.
That being said, I would start by focusing on breakdancing techniques and by perfecting a simple, repetitive dance move/combination. It will probably take a couple of scouting trips to a club for observation and some mirror time.
I'm not an expert but I have spent quite a few years in the mega clubs in Washington D.C. dancing to house, trance, D and B, etc.
Final thoughts-
-Beer helps confidence :)
-watch the movie Human Traffic

I sat and watched someone dance to techno. it was quite bizaar indeed. They had thier hands in the air and were kinda shaking and jutting the hips at a rapid speed.

techno is pretty much free styling...people seem to dance like they're running in place or flail around...like doing a whimsical robot! LOL

I just listen to it. I guess that's strange. I used to dance to it a few years ago but now I don't anymore.

you have to do a little kick and move your arms back and forth -- kind of like a running man on too many downers. just wiggling your butt won't get it.
