It depends on wieght and length. My son started hitting his head on the side when we started moving, so we knew it was time.

We made the transition at 2 1/2 months and she did great. There were no problems. Although we allowed her to take naps and play in her crib so she would be familiar with it before making her sleep in it. As others have mentioned, its for safety reasons to transition them into a crib by 3 months or the before the weight limit on the bassinett.. usually 15 lbs.

Bassinets are usually only rated for babies up to 15lbs. After that is a good idea to put the baby into a crib. Then if the baby is small, like my daughter, it's when the baby starts to move around on their own. Then it becomes a hazard of the baby falling out of the bassinet.

any time you want to change the baby from one to the other is fine. 3 months is a little old for a basinet

As the mother of 4, I do not have a "monthly" time frame. My rule of thumb was to move babies to the crib when they could roll over, the first sign they are becoming physically active and need a larger sleeping area.

It varies from baby to baby. For safety as soon as the baby seems like it can or wants to turn over he needs to start sleeping in a crib.

We moved our little girl from her bassinet to her crib at 5 weeks. It got to the point where she was so long she looked cramped in there and she actually sleeps a lot better in her crib.

Pretty much it's just dependent on weight. Look at the box and manual, and check the weight limits. I agree with everyone else that 3 months sounds about right. They squirm alot at that age. Enjoy your friends baby, they grow up fast.

When ever you feel comfortable, my son only used a bassinet for the first 6 wks. 3 mths is a bit big for a bassinet.

3 months is the standard time. However, they HAVE to be out of it by the time they begin to roll over (usually 4-5 months) because they can roll out of it (bassinet's are not designed to be stable enough for rolling babies)
