At work i hear people recommend that other people should go to their therapist and get something for the stress. Is this more prevalent then i thought. Is it the norm? What the hell? Im trying to deal with life without meds and here it seems like the thing to do.

Far too many people are medicated. As a general rule, if you require more than 3 medications something is wrong. Most likely it is a poor diet and a lack of exercise.

I agree with you! I just crossed over to the "medicated." I take occasional medication for anxiety attacks. I don't overuse it, but I consider it a wonder drug, and I'm glad that I have it to take when I need it. I had tried everything: diet, exercise, meditation, breathing, yoga, etc. I'm still often a ball of nerves.

Dealing with life without medication is the best way to go, but there are times when if there is something that can really help you and you don't totally rely on it, why not?

Is it more the norm now? Yes, but I think it's because there are more and more medications available.

Unfortunately, it's an easy way out for many people who don't have the time, resources, etc. to actually cope with anything that life throws at them. Having a physical hobby is a GREAT outlet and if more people actually focused their anger and stress into it, maybe they would realize pill-popping is chickening out. The sad thing is, many of these people don't suffer from any issues that are out of the ordinary. If they had bullets flying at them for several hours a day, that is stress. If they are laboring long hours to save lives, that is stress. There are some people who I couldn't blame for using drugs. But the average Joe working 9-5? Please!

Well let's just say that yes more people are on meds these day's, it is not a bad thing. People do not have to live with depression or anxiety or other problems, why would you want to struggle everyday? I take med's for depression and anxiety ,I have taken them for 2 years and I remember my life before them and let me tell you it was no fun!! I do not want to go back to being in pain everyday.

I like life just fine with NO meds. People just don't know how to deal with their feelings without drugs anymore. It's so sad really. I think there is a drug out there for everything. The pharmaceutical companies are loving it I'm sure.

Way too many people are medicated due to stress that they bring on themselves. It can all be prevented if we learnt how to handle situations a little better and stop being so competitive and selfish. We do not need more money and more toys to be happy. That all adds stress because the more we get the more we want.

Probably not, but some people should be. Meds do help relieve stress and comforts a person so they can live a decent life.

There are lot of people who should be on meds who refuse to take them and become a burden to their families, friends and society in general. A lot of homeless people could be off the streets and in jobs if they could get the right medication.
