if any besides the Odyssey or the Ilaid?
Also, is it normal for my 11 year old daughter to be reading the Odyssey and actually UNDERSTANDING it? Isn't that a college-level book?

For the record, Homer did NOT write Oedipus Rex.
That was written by Sophocles.
Homer only wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey.

Hey man! Homer wrote the "How to Drink Beer", book. You can find it at the Springfield book store. I hear that Lisa is working behind the counter now. Cool huh?

Seriously though. Your daughter must be very gifted. Does she read a lot? When kids read a lot of books they learn faster, and depending on the content of the books, they can expand there IQ to a much higher level. I would be proud of this little lady. I would bet that she has a large vocabulary as well. When My son, now 22 was only 5, he astounded the elementary teacher that lived across the street from us my using words like "actually". He just graduated from UCSB and is teaching himself now. He has aspirations of opening his own school some day. And with this one, I bet he will.
Have a fantastic day. Sorry about the Simpsons thing, I just could not resist.

I don't know of any besides the Odyssey. I read the Odyssey in high school and I understood it. I think I also read it in middle school and I thought it was easy to understand. I do not think its a college level book.

Technically he didn't write any books. They were poems that he memorized and recited orally. Only later were they written down and translated.

But the "books" he's written are the Iliad and the Odyssey.

I believe those are the two only known works of Homer. Some scholars doubt Homer wrote both the Illiad and the Odyssey.

He wrote a lot of poems too including the story of Oedipus about a guy who fell in love with his mother. As regards 11 year olds understanding it. I would say thats cool. It helps by Hollywood making a film with Brad Pitt called Troy and this helps but I am suprised at what my children read nowadays
