Not such an easy question! I would have to have some more information, indoor/outdoor, annual/perennial, sun/shade, space available, how much water, pet friendly. If you are looking for something for lots of sun, indoor or out, any size space..... roses. Miniature don't take up much space, climbers & florabunda need a lot of room! From my personal experience there is not much that will not grow in So Cal!

I'm north of L.A. by about 20 miles. Born here, lived here nearly all of my life (and I've been alive for a long time) the only thing that I have found that Will Not grow here, is an Apple tree. So, pick whatever else you want, and you're good to go. :)

Why do'nt you search the web for native flowering plants in L.A., I did and there are to many to even begin with. Poppys came to mind, bouganvilla, lantana, take your pick of about what ever you want. Anything grows in L.A. Are'nt you lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plant your heart out.
