My parents were drug addicts & wouldn't ever acnoldge me, let alone admit there was anything "wrong" with me. Even though the teachers tried to tell them. I finally come to terms that I have "problems" & theres nothing wrong with that...How do I go about getting documintation of these things? reasoning is I want to prove to my parents & also, I havn't been able to ever hold a job for more then 2 months, so maybe get a govt. check so I can support myself.

I can't hear outta one ear, I can't talk right no matter what I do- like it sounds wrong to people. They always make fun of how i talk and saying whats on my mind in the order it should be said, I read stuff backwords alot,I get really frusterated trying to do anykind of math or sience. I can't rember alot of stuff. I also have a whole load of mental problems. not enough space to list them all.Theres a few more things, but i'm already working on that. I live in ohio & I'm 22. do you know of any resorces to help me???

I'd start with a local community mental health agency. These are generally big counseling centers that set their fee's on a sliding scale. Meaning you pay as much as you can afford (sometimes free). I recommend this not b/c I think you are crazy but because of the resources and personel they usually have. You can get hooked up with a counselor, doctors and most importantly a social worker who can help you get started on medicaid and disability.

The fact that you're asking for help, is a step in the right direction.

While it does appear you have some medical issues and unfortunately, they seem to be the root of the resulting emotional and psychological problems as well, I'd suggest dealing with the medical problems first. That is, your hearing loss, dyslexia and speech.

Your community/city may have Federal/State and/or Local government health programs that may help you with these problems. Go online and research these programs -- perhaps your city or state website has more info. Also look into applying for federal disability. You may also want to consult a doctor, priest, or someone you trust to get the help you need.

Once the medical issues are addressed, your self-esteem and general outlook of life will improve.

It may be difficult working through all this, and it will require a lot of effort on your part, but, realize that each day is one day closer to feeling better about yourself and those around you.

Should some medical issues not be addressed, then, realize there are others out there in worse shape than you are -- accept the deficiencies, or better yet, find ways to work around them. Turn what may seem like a liability into an asset. It's easy for us to focus on the negative, but we gain so much more otherwise.

You come across as a decent person who's just been dealt some bad luck. You can sit there and sulk - feeling sorry for yourself, or, bounce back and show everyone you're not what they think you are. If you do the latter, you'll not only prove people wrong, but feel better about it.

You have a lot of work ahead of you, my friend. But stick to it, don't quit, and don't be afraid to ask for help along the way.

You've already started down the right track by posting here -- keep the momentum going.

I wish you the best of luck and hope things improve for you soon!

As stated above, *Social Security Office, *Medicare, *Medicaid, *Human Services (welfare, food stamps).
*Mental Health Mental Retardation agency, *social services. Depending on WHAT things you need, who to call.

When u finished school, you were required to go to ARD meeting, *Rehabilitation Services should provide you with referrals and job training or possibilities. You most likely will have to request your school records in writing from the *school district. If not, ASK.

By the way, you don't always have to work full-time or anywhere, the Rehabilitation can give you referrals if you do not want to work at all. Contact or meet everyone that you can, the reason I say that is because Social Security has more limits nowdays. Don't dismiss any agency first.
If your parents are unwilling to assist you, do it yourself plus ask the MHMR services for a *social worker or other adult to guide you. Depending on where you live how quickly or efficiently it can be done. If you need *medications, *hearing aids, *bus passes...all this is available, you just need the right connections.

I am very impressed that you are handling things as best as you can. It is very sad when some parents do not take their duties seriously. You will find the appropriate resources, it will take some time but persevere thru it!!
You can do it!!

Well if you are trying to apply for SSI/Social Security, When you fill out all the info about your case, the Social Security office will send you to their doctors to get tested for whatever you claim is your disability.

You can apply online and they will set up an appointment to talk to you and get the ball rolling. WARNING: this is a lengthy process. It can take several months just to hear if you are qualified for SSI/Social Security

Good Luck

Perhaps your goal should be to learn how you can do things instead of trying to figure out what is wrong with you. You do have to get by no matter what. If you are able to get online and post a question in Yahoo answers, you are capable of doing a lot of things.

Hi, I feel bad that your parents didn't pay atttention to you. You may be able to collect disability. Go to your doctor and ask him for the forms. He can get you on the disability if you qualify. I am glad you are trying. Don;t give up even if you get the disability.

Try your local library. They usually have alot of resources for the learning disabled and know all the good state and federal tricks of the trade.
Have you tried the local welfare office?

No sweetie, masturbation has no longer something to do with how your vagina seems bodily. each lady's vagina is distinctive, in basic terms like no 2 penises are the comparable. you're thoroughly a hundred% regularly occurring in each way. do no longer hear to the lady who reported you're able to no longer masterbate, she does not understand what she's speaking approximately. Masturbation is regularly occurring and organic and actually everyone does it ( even her I guess!).
