i just read that the creators of the candy used the first inital of their last names, Mars & Murrie

No. M & M are the inventors of the candy. Mr. M. K Cohen and Mr. M. P. Talon. They decided to split the honors of developing the candies by each using their first initials. Some believe that M. Cohen should have been given the full measure of credit .. but after a good old fashioned hand fight back in 1878 .. it was decided otherwise. Good Luck ! :)
