At the clothing store I work at, our sensors are those ones that are kind of long, and they do not have ink in them and can be removed with a flat head screw driver and a hammer. (this makes me sound like I steal from there all the time haha) Unless there is an ink compartment on the sensor then it will not get ink on your pants. But if any where on the sensor itself it says anything about "do not remove...if tampered with ink will disperse...etc" do not try to remove it, the pants will be ruined, and the store will more than likely not refund your money or provide you with a replacement pair of pants.
So, if there is no ink compartment on the sensor, wedge the screw driver in between the pants and the larger part of the sensor (not the little circle part that holds it to the pants). Once the screw driver is wedged in as far as it will go, strike the top of the hammer several times and it should come loose and you can pop it off.
If this method doesn't work, or there is an ink thing on the sensor, either return the pants to the store, or find one of your friends that works at a retail store and try to see if they have a sensor remover that will take it off.
Good luck! : )

I had the same thing happen to me. I wouldn't risk it as you might damage the clothes trying to get it off. Is it a magnetic or an ink device, can you tell?
Either way you should go back to the store, if you can, and ask to speak to a manager. Take someone with you who can wait outside the security device with the clothes and take your receipt. The manager should know what cashier is forgetting to take them off, and that shopping at the store caused you to have a time-wasting experience.

I have heard that you can freeze it off, but I would SERIOUSLY consider going back to the store. Those things have ink in them, and if you don't take them off correctly...well...you'll never be wearing those pants. I took my shirt that that happened to back, and they felt so bad. I think I accidentally got the salesclerk in trouble...oops. Anyways, don't ruin your pants!

Chances are it may have a ink jet in it, best bet is to take it back to the store w/ receipt. and tell the manager what a inconvenience this has been and that you should receive at least a 15% discount.

I hate when this thing happens. You will need your receipt and price tag to get them to remove it. If you paid by credit card, you can prove you paid for the item this way.
If you try to tear it off, it will rip and they will not be good for anyone.
Good luck.
