They say the economy is bad because we are in record deficits. 2 trillion plus. That's right after a record surplus. The economy is bad right now, whether you're a lib, gop, dem or whatever!

As a fellow member of that "nonexistant" middle class, I can attest that this economy has been great for my family. And though I chose to leave the workplace while my children are small, I still have an inbox crowded daily with emails from headhunters wanting me to interview for those "nonexistant" jobs.
Liberals just keep chanting that "rich getting richer and poor getting poorer" mantra because, as you can see here, those with no comprehension of economics will believe them. In reality, this is not even possible. When the rich get richer, they spend more money, creating more jobs. The more champagne and caviar they consume, the more you truckers need to haul accross the country to restock the shelves.

The answer to your question is Politics. One of the two main political parties has their man in the oval office. The other party must run everything into the ground to make the sitting party look bad.
The Republicans are in right now, so the Democrats must criticize anything and everything to make the Republicans look bad, giving Democrats running for office a better chance of rounding up more votes. Truth is of no importance to a politician.
If the Democrat party gets their people in office, will the economy improve ? No way, everything they do will be criticized by the Republicans. There's no escape. This has been going on since and before the early days of my long life. There's no way out. It's the worse possible method of electing government officials in the whole world, except for all the others.

... well first off... the opposite party of whoever is in office is ALWAYS going to say the economy is bad... that's just the way it goes...
but, basically, the economy is solid... some indicators are strong (stock market, solid unemployment) others seem to be fading (housing numbers, both sales and construction, trade deficit)...
but for the most part, from what I've seen... we've been in somewhat of a holding pattern economically... not a lot of huge increases, not a lot of huge decreases...
It's better than the economy going down, granted, but people got really used to the economy rising by huge amounts in the 80s and 90s, so people are frustrated with a slight to zero growth situation...

first off i am not a democrat or a liberal i am a moderate independent the economy is bad! the jobs that are being created are either very low skill or very high skill manufacturing jobs are being shipped out of the country for the lower wages other middle of the wage scale like construction are being taken by illegal immigrants forcing wages way down gasoline prices are out of control with no alternative in sight most mortgages that people are paying are a much larger percent of their wages than any time in the past we are squeezing the middle class of this country a few will be squeezed to the top but the majority will fall to the bottom we must remember that the middle class is the back bone of this country it is what makes us a first world country without the middle class we are just a big third world country

A) they want to make bush look bad and harping on the economy is a proven way to create dissatisfaction with a president - too bad for them that the unemployment rate is at 4.4% and the economy is getting stronger every day...
B) Liberals don't understand economics. That's why they want to socialize everything and turn the nation communist...

The middle class is not being helped by the economy. You need to learn these facts. Healthcare and medicare costs are rising. The cost of prescription drugs is rising. Social security is deteriorating, Mortgage rates are rising, wages are declining, you name it!
The economy is good, for rich people only.

I guarantee you if a Democrat/liberal was president right now the Republican/conservatives will be saying the same exact thing about them as well. From the beginning of politics to the end of time, opposing political parties will always bad mouth the other.
