I go to my network places and put add connections but nothing shows up in browse. I turned bothfirewalls off on both of my desktops. It worked before and then I reinstalled XP on one of the desktops and I forgot how I had done it in the first place. They are connected through a wired router. My laptop still connects to both of them, but they don't connect to each other.

Run the network setup wizard on any pc that isnt connecting! Its in accessories, communications, make sure you use the sme workgroup name, you will also need to setup file and print sharing. Leave your firewalls up!

Make sure they both have different IP address's. If not they won't talk to each other.

Check that firewalls are completely shut down - Zonealarm (even after you close the client in the tray) has a windows service which continues to run in the background.

Make sure both are in the same workgroup or on the same domain.

Also, remember to actually share files on both computers - You need to right click on the selected directory> Sharing and then setup shares. Otherwise the computers will not see each other simply because they have nothing to offer - they basically ignore each other.

In addition to the above advice, make sure both of your computers are in the same workgroup. For Win XP: Right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Computer Name -> Change..-> type in your workgroup. Restart your computer.
