There is quite a bit of arguing about the first video game. Prototypes were made in 1948 and 1950, but most people think that 1958's Tennis for Two was the first, made for the Brookhaven National Laboratory's annual visitor's day, and to display atomic power. However, 1972's Pong might also interest you (Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney made it.) Video games have been shown to increase reflexes, but not by much, however, the Army is starting to use video games to help train soldiers, and new recruits that have played FPS have been shown to handle real guns better.
